You, Me And Must Have Crystals: The Truth
There are only two things you must know about must have crystals.
One, must have crystals usually refers to the crystals that almost everyone starts their crystal healing collection with.
Two, must have crystals are actually a personal thing.
Practically every person's crystal collection starts with a stone that is in the must have crystal list. I'd venture to guess that if you hop into any store that is selling crystals, they've added the standard crystal display package from their wholesaler filled with the most common crystals on the planet.
The most plentiful crystals are usually the most affordable ones to start with - that is, if we're talking about tumbled crystals. Tumbled crystals are the gateway drug for the beginner crystal collector. After you collect all the primary tumbled crystals, your addiction will be in full swing. You will start looking at the quality, color and want to add specially shaped crystals, which also means the prices go up.
There's another thing to consider when you're looking to curate your own must have crystal collection - the practical purpose.
A tumbled crystal will fit nicely in your pocket, a pouch, or your bra. They are also great for laying down and doing some chakra work with each crystal resting on its respective chakra area.
Beyond a tumbled, if you're serious about acquiring a full-blown crystal addiction, you will also want to add specific shapes to your collection like spheres for radiating the energy all around or a point to direct the energy. Let's not worry about that now as I hear your wallet thanking me.

Easy To Get 12 Must Have Crystals
I like to think of BT (black tourmaline) and the Mr. T bouncer of the group. You've got someone with negative nelly energy; BT will neutralize it. Getting overwhelmed by the EMF from working on your computer for too many hours? BT has got you covered.
As I think BT is #1 on my must have crystal list, #2 is definitely clear quartz. It is an amplifier of energy - either your own energy or the energy of the crystals it's hanging out with. This is why you do NOT want clear quartz, or anything else from a silicate family, in front of your computer or other electronic devices because it amplifies that not so good energy.
You can do practically anything with a clear quartz crystal, like working with one to manifest your intentions.
I can't begin to tell you how much I love this one. When I got my first piece of selenite, I was like "meh." That all changed when I used it to clean my auric field. Total. Game. Changer. Do you know how much energy gets attracted to you when you're out there in the world with all of those people? I know you do. So grabbing some selenite and doing a rub-a-dub-dub with it, I think, is a daily habit that you're going to enjoy.
Another in the quartz family that is sweet and pink. You'll find that when working with rose quartz that you'll feel like you're being wrapped in a hug from your grandma. Not the grandma that was an ass and pinched your cheeks, but the grandma that gave you the best hugs on Earth.
And another from the quartz family, amethyst is great for tapping into your spiritual side as it works to help you open up your intuition. It's also said to be an excellent stone for those looking to break addictions. I've yet to try it to break my addiction to watching "Sister Wives," but if I do decide to give that up, I will break out some amethyst to help me.
You guessed it, another from the quartz family. Many times people like to take amethyst clusters and points, put them in a literal oven, heat 'em up, and sell it as citrine. Real genuine citrine is heated up with the Earth, naturally, and doesn't look like a chicken nugget. Some people don't mind the citrine chicken nugget-looking things... but I am a citrine snob and refuse to own any of it. But if you dig it, go for it.
You'll want some citrine to help you with prosperity, and if you're a business owner, you may want to consider getting yourself a little citrine generator to be at the center of your abundance grid.
Aventurine is also a member of the quartz family and comes in many colors. When you get a good piece, it's a sparkly fellow due to the mica in it.
Yet, green is the mojo money maker that you could pair with citrine for mega-money manifestation. Rumor has it that you can put a piece of green aventurine in your left pocket with a lottery ticket you'll be bathed in good luck. I haven't tried it, but if you do, let me know how it goes.
The stone for sharing whatโs in your heart and it is a common tumble crystal out there. It's also said that it helps you with your own spiritual healing... you know like all of those trappings of religion still rolling around in your noggin?
Some people confuse Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli. Sodalite is similar (and more affordable than) Lapis Lazuli, BUT Lapis Lazuli will have white calcite, and pyrite specks it in where sodalite tends to have more gray in it and no pyrite.
Grab some Lapis Lazuli if you're looking to enhance your wisdom and intuition.
One of the reasons that most people are attracted to Labradorite is because of its iridescent flash. One glimpse and you'll be picking it up all of the time because who can resist rainbows? No one. That's who.
It is an excellent stone for setting intentions at a new moon or if you're looking for a spiritual reset.
Fluorite is excellent at clearing your energy field of unwanted mental influences. You know, like that person who you have to be around at get-togethers but would rather not because they always want to tell you about their doomsday bunker while simultaneously trying to get you to buy dehydrated food in bulk from them? This is where fluorite shines.
It's the psychic vacuum, when you need it and is also said to help you organize your thoughts. Which may lead to you stop being around that doomsday person in the first place.
Ever have those times where you can't get all of your thoughts together, no matter how hard you try? And then you decide to hop onto WebMD to figure out what's going to kill you this time only to get distracted by the sidebar ad for those fantastic shoes which leads you to forget what you went to WebMD in the first place?
Yeah, you're gonna want some Tiger's Eye to help you corral all of those squirrely thoughts you have.
Here's the final word on must-have crystals
What you think are must-have crystals, and what I think are must-have crystals may differ. Know why? We're all different people and have different needs at different times.
I've gone MONTHS without touching sodalite, and then all of a sudden, it becomes my new best friend.
What you'll find on the crystal journey is that when you need a rock, the must-have crystal will show up in perfect time... 99% of the time.
